Facial Oils? Yes please!
Facial Oils The New Beauty Secret
When I first heard about facial oils being the new beauty secret I was awestruck. I have been trying to rid my face of excess oil for years and now they want me to lather it on my face?! I had to do more research to see if this was true and sure enough, it is. There are, however, some really good reasons why facial oils have become a must in your makeup bag.
Some reasons are because facial oils work as a primer that helps the skin look glowing and natural even before any moisturizer or makeup is added. The secret is facial oils trick the skin into activating Vitamin C and glycolic acid which are important ingredients in a healthy complexion. After the oils help open and activate your pores, any product you apply over them will work better and go deeper into your skin. It will also ensure that your makeup will last a full day on your face, which we know would make life so much easier for everyone, right?
Now, when you think of facial oils, generally you think of people with dry skin or those people who want anti-aging treatments. You think this of oils for a reason because facial oils are known to help rejuvenate and plump the skin in natural ways. Those who seek anti-aging solutions have wrinkles that have formed because their skin’s natural oils have decreased over time. So why does facial oil help? It’s simple. Oils are lipophilic so they not only plump your skin but enter the layers of your skin faster than any other anti-aging cream. Also most oils are packed with antioxidants and help protect your skin from harsh external factors.
There are a variety of types of facial oils that all help the skin in different ways. You should be careful, however, that you are using the correct oil for your skin type. There are night oils, anti-aging oils, hydro active oils, reviving oils, oils for dry skin, normal skin and oily skin… the list goes on. The good news is oils are very easy to apply: one drop on your forehead, one on each cheek, one on the chin and one on the jaw line. If you have oily skin already (like me), oils are still very beneficial to you. They absorb right into your skin and create a soft, glowing look that makes you wish you discovered oils years ago.
Many people who work in the makeup industry also can’t get enough of facial oils. They give such healthy, glowing and natural look to the person that it perfectly completes the natural makeup look. So as makeup students you want to know how to achieve this look? It’s pretty easy actually. Simply put a few drops of oil on the back of your hand, dip your brush in your foundation, blush, bronzer, (or whatever you are applying) then dip it into the oil and swirl the combination onto the skin. This achieves a flawless look as well as helps the skin become healthier.
As if all these benefits weren’t enough to get you to start using facial oils, you should also know that they smell and feel amazing. Try it once and you will be wondering how you went so long without them in your repertoire.
