Spring/summer skin care trends 2017
Spring and summer are the best seasons for social media and that means getting up close and personal with our skin. The amount of Instagram and Facebook posts increase during these seasons because who doesn’t want to show off their fun and flirty side?! With so many pictures being taken on vacation or outside somewhere by a pool, many people opt to wear very minimal makeup during the summertime. This lack of makeup would scare some people, but if you have the right skin care routine, there’s nothing to be afraid of. We have put together a few tips and trends we would like to share with you to get that smooth, soft and picture ready skin.
With the warm air setting in this season, it is important to prep your skin for all the smoothing serums and moisturizers to come. A daily skin care routine is one of the most important and can be a very relaxing part of your day, you just need to be able to identify how your skin behaves in these warmer months and respond appropriately.
If you have sensitive skin, we suggest finding products that are based with gentle, natural ingredients such as oatmeal or chamomile. These ingredients are anti-inflammatory and will prevent any redness or itching that may occur. Keep in mind anything that has a fragrance may cause irritation.
If you have dry skin, you need to be cognizant of your routine and be sure that you are not eliminating any of your skins natural oils. Go for oils and creamy products that will hydrate your skin without over stripping it. Also watch the water temperature when washing your face - not too hot or cold!
If you have normal skin, you can simply go for a basic foam cleanser that removes all makeup and dirt. Lastly, if you have oily skin you are most likely prone to breakouts and need to be using clay or mud based products. These are designed to draw out impurities and have alpha hydroxyl acids that are great for exfoliating.
What we see most in trend this season are creams. There are many different kinds of creams you can purchase to correct almost any impurity you find. I recommend a wonder vanishing cream primer to hide any unwanted lines, then applying a tinted moisturizer to get that vibrant, even skin tone. Tinted moisturizers are perfect for summer and blend nicely on top of any creams you wish to apply.
This spring, the Korean beauty influence is back again. Last year we saw a lot of cushion compacts and sheet masks but this season we will see a lot of pressed serums. These pressed serums are cream based and pack the power of a serum, which will be very popular this season.
Another trend this spring and upcoming summer are probiotic creams. These friendly bacteria are good for your health, but many people don’t know that they are also great for your skin. Probiotic cream strengthens your skin barrier and helps calm inflammation. There are a few brands in the US that have truly become big movers in the skin care market such as Glowbiotics and Tula.
Hope these quick tips have helped you get that camera ready look!
